Brother Charles Ervwin Ragland, Sr., 72, was born in Rome, Georgia, on August 13,1945, to the late Mamie Lou Morris Ragland and Albert Ragland.
Charles attended Main High School in Rome, Georgia. He united with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James Jewell in Rome, Georgia, and accepted Christ at an early age. He found great joy in playing the bass guitar and sang with a local gospel quartet for a number of years.
After relocating to Milton, Florida, he joined St John Divine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. W. E. Andrews. He was employed with a company in Alabama laying sod, at local car dealerships as a car detailer, and also worked several odd Jobs.
Charles was well known in the neighborhood and older community as "Boogaloo”. He loved sitting outside on the front porch and would talk with anyone who passed by or stopped to sit with him; no one was a stranger to him. Telling jokes gave him great joy, and he would be the "life of the party" at family gatherings before his health failed.
On Tuesday, September 5, 2017, Charles transitioned home for his heavenly rest. He was preceded in death by his Father, Albert Ragland, his Mother, Mamie Lou Morris Ragland, and 12 siblings.
Charles is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Dannie Hagans Ragland; two sons, Charles Ervwin Ragland, Jr. (Vanessa) and Daniel Ragland (Donneice); two daughters, Teresa Ragland Harris (Terry) and Minnie Vanessa Ragland; seven grandchildren: SSgt Terrell Harris, USAF, (TaShinah), Danielle Johnson (Cameron), Destiny Campbell, Tristan Harris, Danica Ragland, Michael Ragland, and Dominique Ragland; three great-grandchildren: Tayden Harris, Tayanna Harris and Cadan Johnson; brother-in-law, Charles Montgomery, sister-in-law, Rosa Ragland, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and special friends, Gale Reddoch and Kendrell Elliott.
Charles will be missed, but he has gone to a place of eternal rest and peace, where there is no more suffering and no more pain. Every day will be Sunday!
Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy-laden and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
