Ottilie Totoritis was born in Vienna, Austria on October 13, 1927 to parents of Alfons Pichler and Hildegard Granzer. She became a US citizen in 1947 and resided in Elmira, NY before moving to Gulf Shores, AL in 2015. Ottie died on October 4, 2017 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, FL due to a massive brain stroke.
Mrs. Totoritis was preceded in death by her husband, George A Totoritis and two sons, Richard D and Gerald A Totoritis. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, June and Dwight Knight (Elmira, NY), a daughter-in-law, Anna Totoritis (Gulf Shores), a brother and sister-in-law, Alfons and Charlotte Granzer (Rosenau, Austria), two nephews, Peter Granzer (Rosenau, Austria) and Thomas Granzer (Berlin, Germany), three grandsons, David A Totoritis (Elmira, NY), Thomas Rice Jr (Florida), and Jeffrey A and Andrea Schiefelbein Totoritis (Helinski, Finland), and one granddaughter, Jennifer and Brad Searl, and two great grandchildren, Ottilie and Warren (Mound, MN).
Ottie was a woman of worldly knowledge and she traveled throughout Europe with her family. She inspired the love of cooking, art and sewing in her grandchildren. She was a very wise and patient person who always had a positive outlook, enjoyed a peaceful, spiritual life, and was extremely grateful to all her friends and family. Her humility and gracious way of living will carry on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 21287 CR12, Foley, AL on Saturday, October 14 at 2pm. Interment services will be held on November 3, 2017 at 11am at the Woodlawn National Cemetery, 1825 Davis Street, Elmira, NY.
