Glen Arthur Smith, age 89, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on February 14, 2018 at Covenant Hospice in Sacred Heart Hospital of Pensacola, FL. He was born in Niagara Falls on May 31, 1928 to Arthur Bateman Smith and Catherine Smith (née McCusker).
He attended schools in Niagara Falls and served in the US Army Signal Corps as a power equipment maintenance technician in Germany during the Korean War era.
He married Mary Louise Alaimo, also of Niagara Falls, on July 20th, 1957.
After graduating from Niagara University, he spent the remainder of his working years as an English teacher. Glen was a devoted husband, loving family man, and faithful lifelong member of the Catholic Church.
Glen is preceded in death by his wife, Mary and his brother Alan.
He is survived by his sisters Joan Baney of Spencer, WV and Anne Sauvageau (Rene) of Lewiston, NY; his five children, Joanne Wisniewski (Steve) of Elma, NY, Michael Smith (Miriam) of Boynton Beach FL, Kathryn Amendola (Michael) of Cumberland, RI, Mary Theresa Dean (Peter) of Hong Kong, and Paula Winebrenner (Robert) of Pensacola, as well as grandchildren: Michael Francis, Marco Amendola, Samuel Dean, Emily Dean and Theodore Dean.
A funeral Mass for Glen will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, the 19th of February, at Holy Spirit Church in Perdido, with interment following at Barrancas National Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home is Sunday the 18th at 6:00 p.m.
