Obituary for James Donald Sutton

Don Sutton passed on from this life at the age of 78 in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Born to William and Bensie Sutton, in Arkansas, Don was the loved middle child between Loyd and Forrest.
After attending high school in Alma, Arkansas, where he was better known as Satch, Don joined the Navy. Shortly after his return from Guantanamo Bay, Don met the woman he would be married to for almost 56 years, Carrie Powell. Don and Carrie had two children, Marla and Scott, who they toted from Kansas to Texas to Alabama for Don’s work in the aerospace industry. Always putting community service at the forefront of his life, Don was President of the Alma School Board, a member of the City Council of Alma, a longtime little league coach, and a high school football referee. Upon retiring and relocating to the Gulf Breeze area, you could find Don at the beach, at Elks Lodge #497 where he was a lifetime member, spending time with family and friends, or lounging with his sweet pup Agnes. Don had a zest for travel, he was a great story teller, and he was always up for a Jack and water.
He will forever be missed by those he has left behind; his wife Carrie, daughter Marla, son Scott, and his grandchildren Delaney, Jeremy, Kamren, Crystal, Shayna, and James, his brother Forrest, and an innumerable amount of friends.
In honor of Don’s service to our country, there will be a military service at Barrancas NAS at 11:00 a.m. March 14, 2018. In addition, on March 18 at noon, there will be a celebration of life at the Sandshaker, Pensacola Beach, Florida.
