Obituary for Edith Margaret Crews Macdonald

Edith  Margaret  Crews Macdonald
Margaret was born in Hollandtown Community in Santa Rosa County to Alvin I. and Annie Ruth Holland Crews on October 11, 1930. She died at the Santa Rosa Health and Rehabilitation Center of causes related to Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease on March 28, 2018.
Margaret was of the Methodist faith, having joined the Pineview Methodist Church in her youth. She was a 1950 graduate of Allentown High School after having begun her education at the Hollandtown school. She continued her education by attending business school in Pensacola, while working for Shieffield’s Garage. After business school she applied for and was hired by the Civil Service Department at Eglin Air Force Base, where she worked in the Climatic Hanger. In 1957 she transferred to Ladd Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska, where she worked until 1963. She then transferred to Norton Air Force Base in California, where she met and married Richard J. Macdonald. In the almost 54 years together they lived in various places and pursued several different vocations. To finish out her Civil Service career she worked for the Farmers Home Administration in Santa Rosa County, and retired in 1994. She and Dick enjoyed retirement life until Dementia and Alzheimer’s set in about 2013.
Margaret was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Dick; and sister, Annie O. Crews Kurbes.
She is survived by step-daughters: Jackie and Leslie Macdonald; and brothers, Glynn (Jerry), Lamar (Earline), Joe (Voncile), and Phillip Crews. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton has been entrusted with arrangements.
Visitation for Margaret will be at 1p.m. with the funeral following at 2p.m., on March 31, 2018 at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton.
Rev. Ronnie Bearden of Pineview Methodist Church will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be: Matt Crews, Jon Crews, Lynn Crews, Ricky Crews, Dan Crews, and Robby Kurbes.
Interment will follow at Walling Cemetery.
