Obituary for Joseph Holger Williams

Joseph Holger Williams
Joseph Holger Williams
Joseph Holger Williams, age 75 of Pensacola, FL passed away on July, 31, 2018 at Bay Medical Center in Panama City FL.
He was born in Munich, Germany on March 18, 1943 and immigrated to Castlerock, Colorado in 1951 where he would live on the family cattle ranch, learn English, and absorb the culture of the American West. Being the only child of Charles and Maria, he sought to leave the solitude of the ranch, and at the age of 19 became an American citizen and on the same day joined the Navy.
He served 20 years in the Navy, mostly stationed aboard aircraft carriers, he sailed around the globe several times. In 1967, while stationed in Pensacola, FL, he met his wife Joyce, with whom he spent 51 years. Three years after they married they had their only child, Anthony. Joe retired in 1982 and the family settled in Pensacola. After retiring as a Master Chief from the Navy, he attended the University of West Florida and received his MBA in 1986.
From a young age, Joe fell in love with working on and driving sportscars and always had one after trading his childhood horse for his first car in Colorado. His favorite was a 1968 Corvette Stingray Convertible that he rebuilt in the 80’s. He instilled the same passion for mechanics and cars in his son and together they restored two British sports cars.
His wisdom, commentary, support, and attention will be missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Maria Elizabeth Beirling Williams and Charles Harvey Williams.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Thomas Williams, his son, Anthony Joseph Williams, and his grandchildren, Charles, Gretchen, and Chole Williams.
A memorial service will be held at 9am on August 17, 2018 at the Trahan Family Funeral Home located at 419 Yoakum Court, Pensacola, FL. His interment with full military honors will take place immediately afterwards at Barrancas National Cemetery on NAS Pensacola.
