Betty Jean Daugherty Smith, 66, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 23, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital’s Covenant Care Hospice Unit. She was born October 23, 1951 in Lyon, KY to Samuel and Joan (Peake) Daugherty. She married Mitchell A. Smith on March 10, 1972 in Kentucky.
Betty enjoyed spending time learning how to use computers, especially photo shop programs, and bragging about her five grandchildren. She loved spending time with her very dear friend, Joyce Boatwright, and it was always a treat for her to shop with her kids and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Mitchell A. Smith; parents, Samuel Daugherty and Joan Riggs; mother and father-in-law, Glen and Daisy Smith; brothers, Billy and Mike Daugherty; and brothers-in-law, Phillip and Dennis Smith.
Survivors include: her two children, Michelle (Steve) Barlow and Glen (Angie) Smith; five grandchildren, Jason Barlow, Daniel Barlow, Heather Barlow, Alexis Smith, and Brielle Smith; her brothers and sisters, David Owen Daugherty of White Plains, KY, James Henry (Karen) Daugherty of Nortonville, KY, Chrystal Daugherty (Jim) Rynolds of Nortonville, KY, Robin Daugherty (Donald) Putty of Nortonville, KY; three sisters-in-law, Linda Smith, Marilyn Smith, and June (Dave) Guenther; her brothers-in-law, Willard (Connie) Smith and Spyder Smith; as well as many precious nieces and nephews.
Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton, 6539 Trammel Dr., is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral service begins at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Liberacki, officiating.
Burial will follow at Hickory Hammock Baptist Church Cemetery.
