Obituary for Karia Davis

Karia Davis was born February 22, 1922, in Marion County, South Carolina. He was the youngest of nine children born to Lonnie Davis and Lillie Brigman Davis. He departed this life for his heavenly home Tuesday, November 7, 2018.

Karia was educated in the Marion County School System. As a young man he relocated to Chester, Pennsylvania, where he was employed by the Philadelphia Ship Yard and Sun Ship Yard as an accomplished welder. He also was employed by Benjamin Franklin Electric.

Karia was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Chester, Pennsylvania, where he was an usher and a member of several auxiliaries from the early 1960s to 1994.

After retiring Karia moved to Milton, Florida, where he began attending Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church and was a faithful member of the Usher and Trustee Board under the Pastorate of Rev. Estee Rhodes until Karis’s health began to fail.

In his retirement Karia loved raising chickens and giving away eggs to neighbors and friends he also raised ducks and goats. But he was most proud of the trees he planted. He was locally famous for his grapefruit, he loved sharing with everyone. He loved his family and everyone who visited him knew by the display of photos of his family in his home.

Karia Davis is preceded in death by 8 brothers, Joseph, Emanuel, James, Chauncey and Norris Davis; two sisters, Ruth Davis Crawford and Naomi Davis Ellerbee.

He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Karen Smith of Chester, Pennsylvania, Angela Smith of Milton, Florida and Kimberly Davis of Chester, Pennsylvania; two special young men, Derek and Ricky Adams; two loving sister in laws, Rosalie Davis of Chester, Pennsylvania and Corrine Crawford of Chester, Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren; a host of relatives and special friends.
Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, 11:00 a.m. until the service begins at 12:00 p.m., burial to follow at Milton Keyser Cemetery.
