Donald (Don) Eugene Hampton
(October 6, 1942 – November 14, 2018)

Donald Eugene Hampton, 76, of Pensacola went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2018. He was born October 6, 1942 in Richlands, VA to his loving parents, Paul and Sallie Hampton.
He attended Richlands schools and then joined the Army in 1960. He served his country proudly in Germany, as well as, stateside. Donald worked with the same company began with in Piqua, OH in the mid-1960s. He then transferred to Decatur, AL in 1974 and finally transferred to FL where he completed the last couple decades at International Paper of Pensacola.

Don was the third oldest in the family of seven children. He married his soul mate, Virginia Mae “Jean” Lowe on September 12, 1964. Their marriage spanned over 50 years until her death on April 27, 2015.
Don was a friend to all that knew him and was always willing to help anyone in need. As a youth he was a Boy Scout and that sense of duty to God, to country and other people was put forth in his daily life. Sunday mornings, Don would drive to the beach and read his bible as his way of nurturing his faith. He loved his country and was very passionate in sharing his feelings of what he considered right or wrong with the way it is being run.

Most of all, he exemplified the meaning of a friend. Don considered his close friends as family and anyone that knew him became a friend, not just an acquaintance. He loved playing golf; those times with his buddies were retold to family and others countless times. He felt blessed and therefore was a blessing to others.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy Sherry Hampton; parents, Paul and Sallie Hampton and brother Bobby Jack.

Don leaves to cherish his memories son, Donald Hampton II and family of Baghdad, FL; grandson, Nicholas Hampton and family of San Diego, CA; brothers, Gordon “Bud” (Annette) Hampton of Graford TX and Curtis (Nancy) Hampton of Piqua OH; sisters, Norma McKenna of Piqua OH, Linda (Dave) Berrett of Troy OH, Janice Hampton of Piqua OH and their extended families.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Flounders, Pensacola Beach.
