Obituary for Alfred Lee Johnson Jr.

Alfred Lee Johnson, Jr. 73, of Milton, passed away on December 21, 2018. Johnson was born on June 14, 1945 to his parents Alfred Lee and Mary Earl (Foster) Johnson in Milton, Florida.

Johnson was a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father, and friend. He loved his family and always had fun by cracking jokes, dancing, and telling memorable stories. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Always a hard working man, Johnson was most proud to have worked as a professional firefighter, which he said was the only job he ever truly loved. During his tenure with the Milton Fire Department, he received numerous commendations as both a firefighter and as a high level first aid instructor. He also worked the infamous 1960's downtown Milton fire which consumed the First National Bank and threatened to consume other historic buildings like the Imogene Theater.

Johnson is predeceased by his parents and is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda Arlene (Evers) Johnson; son, Vincent Lee (Johnson) Mayo; son, Kenneth Lee Johnson (daughter-in-law, Toshana Marie Johnson); daughter, Amanda Michelle Johnson (son-in-law, Jeremiah Banche Johnson); his loving grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.

His race is won. Now he is dancing on streets of gold and hunting with his ancestors in the happy hunting grounds.

Visitation and services will be Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Trahan Family Funeral Home in Milton, Florida.
