Donna Jean Hamlett Balkum, 64, of Pensacola, FL went to be with the Lord February 1, 2019. Donna was born December 29, 1954 in Baltimore, MD to her parents, Lewis Donald Hamlett and Mary Ann Kelso.
Donna grew up in Dundalk, Maryland and graduated from Patapsco High School in 1972. Later, she won an award for becoming a nurse called The Project Independence Award and worked for John Hopkins. However, her greatest achievement was becoming a mother to Melissa in 1971, then to Megan in 1980. Shortly after Donna married her loving husband, Rickie T. Balkum on September 8, 1992.
Donna is preceded in death by her father, Lewis Donald Hamlett.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Rickie T. Balkum; mother, Mary Ann Kelso; stepfather, George Kelso; brothers, Mark Hamlett and Lewis Hamlett; children, Melissa (Sweat) Fret, Megan (Gottschalk) Roberts, Rickie Balkum Jr., Robert Balkum; grandchildren, Celaste DeJesus, Tyler Caraballo, Alyssa (Scruggs) Driggers, Cameron Roberts, Nico Roberts, Dilan Fret, Julia Fret, Marissa Balkum, Ryan Balkum; great grandchildren, Juan Fontanez Jr., Grayson Stephens, April Driggers, Rhett Driggers; and a host of extended friends and family.
A service will be held in memory of Donna on Thursday, February 7, 2019 with a visitation starting at 11:00a.m. and service following at 12:00p.m. at Trahan Family Funeral Home in Pensacola.
