Charlie Martin White, Sr. (C.M.)
October 13, 1934 - July 5, 2019
Beloved Husband, Dad and Pop, Charlie Martin White, Sr. (C.M.), passed from our arms into the arms of his loving and faithful God on Friday, July 5, 2019. Charlie was born October 13, 1934, in Donalsonville, Georgia, to John and Myrtice White, and was 84 years old.
With much love and endless memories Charlie leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Faye, five children Marty (Donna) White, Jan (Cliff) McCollum, Beth (Bayard) Miller, Jennifer Colley, and Scott (Alisa) White. Charlie was “Pop” to nine grandchildren – Cody White, Christina Angel, Angela Adams, Holly Renehan, Dodge Miller, Lindsay (Doug) Feather, Zac (Keyla) Colley , Kimberlee Colley, and Jonathan White and to nine great-grandchildren – Christopher Adams, Roman Angel, Marco Angel, Harper Renehan, Rhiley Renehan, Levi Stephens, Asher Stephens, Harleigh Feather, and Benjamin Colley expected in September. C.M. to his siblings, he leaves behind two sisters, Vernalene (Orland) Harville and Grace Moore, and one brother Walt (Diane) White. Uncle C.M. leaves numerous nephews and nieces. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, brother Buddy, and sisters Waver, Ruth, and Vera.
Charlie lived in the Ferry Pass community most of his life and was a member of First Assembly of God church, serving faithfully and selflessly for his entire adult life, many years as a Deacon. He was always ready and available with words of encouragement and faith for anyone needing them. The first impression one would have of Dad was his smile and the twinkle in his eye – the twinkle could mean either joy or mischief. Dad was a strict disciplinarian, was a student and teacher of life, and loved sharing tales from his childhood. He was also a collector of many things – some useful, some not so much. His passion, beyond his family, was gardening. His greenhouse contained plants started from seed, grafts, and love. Gifted with working hands, Dad either built or remodeled every home we lived in, when he wasn’t hunting or fishing with his kids. In his final months, he loved listening to music on the old gramophone at Wesley Haven Villas. Charlie retired from Monsanto after 37 years of service and often spoke fondly of the people with whom he worked and of his many friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Wesley Haven Villa, Emerald Coast Hospice (Marquis, Jan and Annie), and his physicians for their loving care.
Charlie will be laid to rest at Whitmire Cemetery. Viewing will be held at First Assembly of God church on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, from 10:30am until noon with the service immediately following. Nephews and grand-nephews will serve as pallbearers and honor guard. The family requests any donations be made to either First Assembly of God Church, Pensacola, Florida, or Wesley Haven Villa Fountain of Love. Arrangements are being handled by Trahan Family Funeral Home.
