Obituary for Aliston Wayne Gavin
Aliston Wayne Gavin of Jay, FL passed from this life on Tuesday, June 15, 2020 at the age of 68 at his family home in Chumuckla, FL.
Wayne was born Oct 27, 1951 in Atmore, but resided in the Brownsdale and Chumuckla communities all of his life. He was a retired farmer and construction worker. Wayne loved to fish, hunt, and have cookouts with friends and family, but most of all spend time with his grandchildren.
Wayne is preceded in death by his father, Aliston, and mother, Laura Ruth Gavin; siblings; Clarence Ray Gavin, Mildred McKinley, Helen Paul, Aubrey Gavin, and Leon Gavin; nephews; Bruce Gavin, Johnny Kirkland, Teddy Kirkland, and Jason Kirkland; and niece Mandy Hudson Hobbs.
Left to cherish his memory is daughter, Shannon Gavin Cross; grandchildren: Braden (Sylvia) Cross, Kirsten Cross, Amber Cross, and Jerrad Cross; brother, Glen (Sally) Gavin; sisters;Mary Nell Applegate, and Deborah (Kenny) Goodson.
Shannon and the grandchildren would like to give special thanks to Aunt Mary Nell for taking care of Daddy.
Rev. Gene Hudson will officiate an 11:00am memorial service on June 23, 2020 at Cornerstone Church, 14047 S. Alabama Street, Jay, FL. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his memory.
