Obituary for John F. "Jack" Wappler

John F. Wappler
1939 - 2020

John F. “Jack” Wappler, 80, of Pensacola passed away October 26, 2020. He was born on November 30, 1939 in St. Louis, MO to John and Harriet Wappler.

He attended Warrington Worship Center where he participated in Men’s Fellowship. Jack was also a member of the Pensacola Waterfront Improvement Society (PWIS), Retired Old Men Eating Out (Romeo’s) and at one time Crew of Lafitte

Jack retired from the U. S. Navy on November 11, 1977, while in the military he traveled all over the world. After retiring from the Navy, he retired from Civil Service also as a Cryptologic Technician.

As a donor, Jack donated 38 gallons of whole blood.

He loved cooking, celebrating and worshipping with family and friends, working in the yard and old cars, especially his El Camino. Jack enjoyed going all around town when it was time to shop for the food when he cooked.

Jack was a wonderful father and husband who was loved and will be dearly missed.

Preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Michelle.

Jack leaves to cherish his memories: cherished wife of 46 years, Sharon Wappler; sister, Barbara Tirrell; sister-in-law, Kathy (David) Joiner; mother-in-law, Gloria Hopkins; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and beloved pet, Izzie Bell.

A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and employees at Select Specialty Hospital for their care, kindness and patience in the treatment of Jack.

Visitation will be from 11:00 until funeral service begins at 12:00 on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Warrington Worship Center, 398 N. Navy Boulevard, Pensacola, FL with Reverend David Joiner and Pastor George Hudnall officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital for cancer research.
