Obituary for James Carle Brooks

Mr. James Carle Brooks, 76, passed away at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola on Sunday, January 6, 2019. He was the second son of Milton and Phyllis Brooks, and was born in Rockaway, Long Island on April 10, 1942.
Jim grew up in Parma, Ohio and Kirkwood, Missouri. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Order of the Arrow, and active in the Order of Demolay. He was also a varsity letterman in wrestling. Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country for four years, including a year-long deployment to Korea. He later graduated from Sacramento State University and spent most of his career in Kansas City and Memphis, working in individual and group health and life insurance sales with the Hartford and General American Life insurance companies.
Jim was an outgoing and loving husband, father, brother, neighbor and friend, who was loved and will be deeply missed by all. He spent many years coaching his sons’ sports teams and camping with the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed the outdoors, boating on the lake, playing golf and eating good barbeque. In his later years he became an avid Florida Gator football fan.
Jim was predeceased by his son, Andy Brooks; grandson, Frank Brooks; older brother, Tom Brooks and youngest brother, Bill Brooks.
He is survived by his wife, Trish Brooks of Navarre, FL; his son, Mike Brooks (Julie) of Atoka, TN; his brother, Bob Brooks (Melanie) of Gulf Breeze; his step-children, Kathy DeKalb of Ponchatoula, LA and Joey Jasionowski of Pensacola; his grandchildren Kelsey, Austin, Drew, Penelope, Jase, Colton, Tricia, Lacey and great-granddaughter, Rainee.
No funeral is planned. Jim’s remains will be scattered in the Gulf of Mexico on a later date.
