Obituary for Clifford Thomas "Cliff" Thompson Jr.
Clifford (Cliff) Thomas Thompson Jr, 76, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away unexpectantly on March 30, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his Father Clifford Thompson Sr; Mother, Ida Malbone; Brother, Wade Sellers and Sister, Raye O’Brien.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 39 years, Sandra Thompson; Sisters, Jean Burke and Faye Poore; 6 Children, Warren Baggett (Georgianna), Randall Baggett (Julie), Felicia Morris (Curtis), Penelope Griffis (Gary), Anthony Thompson Sr. (Lexie) and Nonie Lang. 13 Grandchildren, Amanda Pooser, Jeff Ellis, Erika Sandel (Joe), Amber Sabiston (John), Melissa Byrd (Justin), Corinna McGuigan (Kenny), Nichole Deel (Jeremy), Brittany Baggett, Lindsey Runnels, Jazmin Perkins (Heather), Christinaa Daniels (Chris), Anthony Thompson Jr. and Emily Baggett. He also has 13 Great-Grandchildren.
Cliff was born in Appomattox, Virginia on June 9, 1942 and grew up in Norfolk, Va. His childhood was made up of memories of his loving Mother, playing with his siblings, skating on the porch of his grandparents’ home, going to Bayville Farms with his Grandpa where he was in charge of the calves and going to Roddins Corner where he would hang out with his Grandpa.
He got a job at the Toddle House in his teens where he performed odd jobs. This began his long career in the Restaurant Business that would span over 30 years. Once he retired, he was on the Board of Directors at the Bellview Volunteer Fire Department in Pensacola, Florida which he took pride in and enjoyed very much.
He had a love for cooking, was a pool shark, enjoyed watching football, he was an FSU fan and a Nascar Racing fan. He was a History buff and was amazing with numbers, he was like a human calculator. He was funny, had a great sense of humor and a knack for telling jokes, he was the life of the party.
What he loved most was spending time with his family and making memories. Some fun things he enjoyed with family was going to the park (we found a park in every city he lived) playing croquet, badminton (which he would play him against 2 and still win), board games and poker. One favorite pastime, was taking drives, looking at all the big houses and beautiful Virginia scenery, like a Sunday stroll on any day. His favorite holiday was Christmas where he really enjoyed shopping at toy stores for his children and grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed but will live in the hearts of his loved ones.
The family will have a Celebration of Life Memorial for Cliff on Saturday, April 6, 2019, 2:00 pm at his and his wife Sandra’s home in Pensacola.
