Obituary for Shirley Mazie Adams-Harrison

Shirley Mazie Adams-Harrison, also known as “Black Gal”, 74, of Pensacola, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 12, 2019. She was born to Rozener Knight and Woodrow Adams in Walnut Hill, FL on March 23, 1945. Shirley graduated from Washington High in Pensacola, FL in 1962.

Shirley loved having a good time, especially dancing. She also loved to sew, ceramics, cooking, crosswords and bowling. She was the head cashier at the Navy Exchange in California before she completed her Certified Nursing Assistant certificate, which led into a long 30 year career. She was also a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Shirley was preceded in death by her mother, Rozener Knight and her brothers, Roosevelt Adams, Willie Adams and Milse Adams.

Left behind to cherish her memories are her daughter, Chiquita Askew; two grandchildren, Sha’Neese Fails (Gavin) and Robert Askew III; one great grandson, Gavin Hendrix Fails; sisters, Dora Kent (Neil) and Gloria Harbin; three brothers, Joe Adams, Sam Adams and Tim Adams (Gail); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
