Obituary for Tim Smith
Tim Smith was the fifth child born to Henry and Doshia Smith. He was the brother of Mattie Jane, Bessie Lee, Richard, Ella Mae, Charles (Evelyn) and James.
He is the father of Angelia Hill, Jeffery (Carol) Smith, Timmy (Sharon) Smith, Linda (Perry) James, Zina Dean, Daryl (April) Smith, and Godfather of Felicia “Missy” Barnes.
He is the grandfather of 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He worked at and retired from Monsanto, now known as Ascend, and won awards for his hard work while there.
Years ago, when his sons were younger, he was a little league baseball coach whose team often won state championships. He is still respected by many of the young men he coached, who often thanked him for teaching them to fight for what they want in life.
Tim always loved all animals; his favorite being horses. He was a talented horse trainer who traveled across the United States winning many high stake races. Once he retired from Monsanto, he was able to travel with his horses even more.
In later years, was hard for Tim to sit around doing nothing. He had a heart for people and could be found driving his white truck around and doing whatever he could to help anyone he could. He loved seeing a smile on their faces.
He enjoyed attending Milton High Football Games although his sons had long graduated. In fact, he was sometimes found “coaching and cheering” one of his grandsons, Justin, from the sidelines. He continued to attend even after Justin graduated, and became a known face in the stadium.
His favorite place to gather was “The Local Yokel” now owned by the “Circle-K” chain. There, he met with friends who he could share stories, laugh and talk about God.
Tim was a member of St. John Divine Missionary Baptist Church in Milton, Florida, where he attended until his health no longer allowed. Although desired so much to return, God had better plans for him.
He will always be loved and missed by so many, but especially his children and grandchildren who stayed devoted to him until he transitioned.
