Obituary for Judy Anita Colville (Boyd)
Judy A. Colville, 71, of Pensacola, FL went home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2019. On August 6, 1947 Judy was born in Delaware County, OH to Ralph and LaVerne (Burt) Boyd. Then shortly after they moved the family to Austin, Texas where Judy was raised.
One of the characteristics that Judy displayed throughout her life was her love and care for animals. As a child she saved our family kitten that had been poisoned. She continued to love her pets and even had her own cat, Boots.
Judy graduated from Travis High in Austin, TX, and proceeded to graduate with a Bachelor’s in Social Work and a minor in History from University of Mary Harden Baylor in 1969. She married Paul Colville on October 4, 1969. A year later they moved here to Pensacola and eventually adopted Anita when she was six weeks old.
Her family is proud of her accomplishments in her career and personal life. She was a social worker for the State of Florida in Pensacola until she retired 32 years later. Judy was a devout Christian. As a member of Burgess Road Baptist Church for over 35 years, she loved the years she helped teach in the young children’s church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and LaVerne; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Al Marion Boyd of OH and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Burt of Austin, TX;
Those left to cherish Judy’s memory include her husband Paul; her aunt, Nelda Miller of Round Rock TX; sister, Peggy Boyd of Austin, TX; and her many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins; two dear friends Alice Bell of Killeen and Jean Greenwood of San Marcos; and her church family. Judy will be greatly missed.
Join us at Burgess Road Baptist Church on Thursday, May 23, 2019 for visitation at 12:30 with funeral service at 1:30 and leaving at 2:00 for interment at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. Pastor Michael Cooley will be officiating.
