Obituary for Wallace Eugene Chapman
On May 24, 2019, Wallace Eugene Chapman, age 66, passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving wife and riding partner of 19 years, Lee Ann, and his beautiful daughters, Tiffany (Jason) Conrad and Ashley (Edward) McQueary, both of Denham Springs, LA. His faithful dog, Domino, stayed by his side, always keeping watch.
Wallace was born in Jacksonville, FL, on September 7, 1952, to parents Bonnie Louise and Samuel Eugene Chapman. Third of seven siblings, he is survived by sisters, Linda Chapman Westberry, Judy Ann Farrington; and brother, Richard Troy Chapman, all of Jacksonville; as well as his wife, Lee Ann, his children, Tiffany (Jason) and Ashley (Edward), and his grandson, Linkin, Wallace also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends that he dearly loved.
He is preceded in death by brothers, Samuel Anthony Chapman, Walter David Chapman, and Jeffrey Marshall Chapman.
Wallace was always extremely proud of his children and his beloved grandson, Linkin. His love was evident in the stories he told and the pictures he’d share. That pride and love always showed so openly on his face.
Wallace was a proud Viet Nam Veteran with the US Navy, and a member of the Coast Guard from which he honorably retired as an MK1 in 1992 after 20 years of service. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, a brother, an uncle, a biker, a best friend, a father figure. Mere words are not adequate to describe him. He never met a stranger and would always lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He made the world around him a better place. With his passing, we have lost a genuinely good and decent man.
He will be remembered as a man who loved to tell stories about a range of subjects, whether it was history, travels during his career, adventures on his bike or times spent laughing with his friends. A man who valued family and brotherhood. A man respected and a man who gave respect. A man who faced challenges with grace, humor and a quiet strength that were truly inspiring.
Wallace’s favorite place was always on his Harley Davidson going wherever the road took him. The destination was never as important as the journey. With his wife behind him and his friends beside him, Wallace was truly happy.
He will be incredibly missed by all that knew and loved him. Please join us as we celebrate the life of Wallace at a memorial visitation on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Trahan’s Funeral Home
