Obituary for Carl Walter Deems

On June 3, 2019, Lt. Colonel Carl Walter Deems, US Air Force, Ret., took his final flight. He was surrounded by his family and listening to the prayers of his wife.

In 1954, he was born in Kingston, New York, to Carl and Shirley Deems.

He loved to learn. He received two bachelor's degrees, three master’s degrees, and a doctorate.

He served in the United States Air Force for 24 years. He was a navigator in the F-4 and F-111, accumulating a total of 1478 flying hours. His career also included him serving as a Commander of Space and Missile Operations.

During his life, he was involved in many different ministries. He taught Sunday school, served as deacon, taught in prisons, and presented his Scripture Seminar around the world.

He married Marilyn in 1983, and together they raised 4 children. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a fantastic grandpa. He prayed for his whole family by name, even the pets.

He has now been reunited with his parents, Carl and Shirley Deems. He leaves his sister, Kerry; his wife of 36 years, Marilyn; his children: Sarah, Lydia, Joshua, and Elisabeth; and his grandchildren: Anna, Andrea, Joel, Alice, and Elaina; and all the family pets: Leif, Chloe, Daisy, and the fish.

His funeral will be Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 at the Trahan Family Funeral Home, 419 Yoakum Court, Pensacola Florida, 32505. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until the service at 11 am.

His family is so grateful to the team of doctors and nurses at Sacred Heart Hospital and at Covenant Care Hospice for their care and compassion these past four months.
