Obituary for Perry Varner

Perry Varner, 82, of Milton passed away on June 22, 2019. He was born on January 16, 1937 and was raised by Fred and Eeler Varner.

Perry spent most of his childhood in Athens, GA and later settled in Oglethorpe County, GA. He joined the U.S. Army as a young man and spent six years in the service with four being spent overseas in Germany. His days in the military were some of his fondest memories that he spoke of often.

Perry was a jack of all trades and a master of none, but he was best at bringing people joy through his cooking. He spent many years working at Waffle House and never met a stranger along the way. But his greatest joy was his family, and whether it was catching a bass or changing the oil in your car, Dad always took the time to teach us what we needed to know.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Don Varner.

Perry leaves behind: his wife, Lois F. Varner; son, Clifford (Deanna) Varner of Gulf Breeze, FL; daughter, Belle (Joe) Mullins of Milton, FL; grandchildren, Kami, Akasha, Val, Tara, Donavan, Chase, and Maddie; sister, Judy Rarrick of Indiana; and many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Trahan Family Funeral Home, 419 Yoakum Court, Pensacola, FL 32505.

Graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery.
