Obituary for Raymond Martin Colley

Raymond Martin Colley, 47, of Milton, FL passed away unexpectedly on September 1, 2020.

Raymond was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Helen and William “Billy Tom” Colley, Sr.; father, William “Tommy” Colley, Jr.; brother, Matthew Thomas Colley; mother, Rosemary Colley Saxon; in-laws, Howard and Dorothy Robertson; sister-in-law, Laura Jan Robertson; and several close aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Raymond is survived by: his wife, Becky Robertson Colley; his children, Chase Colley, Madison “Maddie” Colley, Matthew Colley, and Miranda Andrews (Alec Corbitt); adorable grandson, Brady Corbitt; a very special cousin, Anita Williams who was like a mother to him; his biological father, Ted Frederickson; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family members, and friends.

Raymond was born in Pensacola, FL on November 27, 1972. He attended JM Tate High School as well as Pine Forest High School. He grew up and lived in the Pensacola area for most of his life, but as a young boy, also lived with family members Jim, Mary Ann, Jimmy and Amy Poehle (Mitchell) in Virginia. He has lived in Milton for the past 23 years and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.

Raymond was an avid outdoorsman with an awesome talent for saltwater, freshwater or deep sea fishing, bow and rifle hunting, boating, as well as playing billiards and darts. Even though he had no formal training, Raymond was a gourmet cook who could put any chef to shame. He used his hand crafting talents as he worked in the construction business for many years.

Raymond will never know the void he left for his children, family and friends, who are in disbelief, but hopefully he’s hunting and fishing in a heavenly forest or body of water while cutting up with his recently departed cousin, Chuck Creighton, and reuniting with many loving family members. A special thank you to cousins, Jeremy Williams and Susan Smith, as well as a friend, Pat Jackson, and other friends who helped Raymond when he needed it the most.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the memorial service to celebrate Raymond’s life begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Trahan Family Funeral Home, Milton Chapel. Jamey Jones of Pensacola, Poet Laureate of NW Florida, and cousin of Raymond will be speaking on behalf of the family. At the memorial service, friends and family are encouraged to share memories and stories that will honor Raymond’s life and memory.
