Obituary for Jackie Wayne Prewitt
Jackie W. Prewitt, a long-time resident of Milton, FL and known by most as Jack Prewitt, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at the age of 66 after battling the COVID-19 virus.
Jack Prewitt was born in Richmond, KY on January 7, 1954 to J. Pearl Jr. and Betty Jane Prewitt. He moved to Tallahassee where his college football love, the Seminoles, reside before making his way to Milton, FL where he spent the rest of his life divided between his children and grandchildren, and visiting his family in Kentucky. He worked as an environmental health specialist under the Santa Rose Health Department before starting his own business, Prewitt’s Consult Services, and was the first individual consultant in the state of Florida.
Jack Prewitt loved his family and would do anything he could to help and support those he loved. His favorite place to eat was Whataburger and he was well known from here to Niceville, FL at all mealtimes. Jack loved movies, coca-cola, and spending time with his family (especially in bowling, arcades, and golfing). He was a hard-working man with a love of rock n’ roll and bluegrass music. Jack was an incredibly generous person even to those outside his friends and family; if he knew someone needed help and he could provide it or assist in providing it, he did so without hesitation and with no desire for praise or repayment.
Jack was preceded in death by: his mother, Betty Jane Prewitt; his older brother, Robert “Bobby” Prewitt; and his nephew, Joshua Daugherty.
Survivors include: his siblings, Phillip (Carol) Prewitt, Becky (Robbie) Gregory, and Edward “Eddie” Daugherty; his daughter, Caitlyn (Dalton) Taylor; his son, Wesley (Elizabeth “Liz”) Williamson; his life-partner & love, Melanie Creel; his grandchildren, Alexis, Hanna and Kendrick Williamson, and Joseph James “JJ” Taylor; his nieces and nephews, Terry Prewitt Turner, Angie (Chris) Jones, Jeff (April) Prewitt, Tammy Gibbs White, Brittani Gregory, Sarah Daugherty, and Jacob Daugherty; his cousins, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nephews; many who called him friend, and some who called him “Pawpaw Jack”.
For those wishing to pay their respects, there will be a visitation from 10 am to 11 am on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Trahan Family Funeral Home, Milton Chapel located at 6539 Trammel Drive, Milton, FL 32570.
