Obituary for Sherri Moore Fleming (Moore)

Sherri Moore Fleming
April 26, 1935 – November 25, 2020

Sherri Moore Fleming, 85, was born on April 26, 1935, the second daughter of Floyd Paul Moore and Delphine Linneman Moore. She assisted her parents in operating their restaurant in Apache, OK while she attended high school there. In 1951 she married Fletcher Fleming, who was then in the US Army. From then until her death on November 25, 2020, she and Fletcher enjoyed a marriage made in heaven, and only terminated by God’s call for her to live with him in heaven.

Sherri was a model mother to their five children who profited from her loving parenting skills and followed successful careers. She successfully, but briefly pursued her own careers, as an LPN and as a RE Salesman and Broker. Realizing that she had earned retirement, she has cared for Fletcher and enjoyed his care.

Sherri was a commissioned Charter member of Westwood Christian Church from 1959 until her death. She served virtually every position of service or leadership in their church. Music played a large part in Sherri’s life, beginning with her service as first clarinetist of her high school band and continuing with 59 years as Westwood Christian Church’s pianist and organist. She also served the community by service for the PTAs of the schools attended by her children and many years of service on the local Board of Directors of American Red Cross.

She is survived by her only sibling, her sister, Joyce Moore Young of San Diego, CA.; her husband of 69 years, Fletcher Fleming; five children, Tony (Marla) Gerald D. (Lisa) Craig, Cynthia (Robert) Waldrop, and Lisa (Stanley) West; Nine grandchildren, Brett Fleming, Nicole Burt, Christina Fleming, Lindsay Vermylen, Kyle Rogers, Brooke Fleming, Erin Dillard, Ryan Waldrop, and Megan Waldrop; and 2 great grandchildren, Roland Dillard and Sophia Burt all of whom referred to her as their, “Memommy.”

A private Celebration of Life and public Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Trahan Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
