Iris D. Ashley
1936 - 2017

Iris D. Ashley, mother, friend and force of nature completed her earthly journey Monday, January 16. Iris will always be remembered for her love of life, optimism, resilience, sense of humor and boundless energy. She will be sorely missed by all.

Iris was born on December 31, 1936 in San Sebastián, Puerto Rico to Juan Diaz Montes and Lidia del Carmen Matta Diaz.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Boerma, and her beloved dog Scarlett.

Iris is survived by her children Deborah Upton and her husband Richard of Gloucester, MA; Richard Boerma and his wife Iva of Greenville, SC; Aaron Ashley and his wife Heeseung Lee of Baltimore, MD, and her brother George and his wife Rosa of San Juan, PR. She leaves many other family members and dear friends.

An informal celebration of her life will be held in the Meeting Room at Westminster Village Retirement Home, 1800 West Moreno Street, Pensacola on Thursday, January 19, from 2-4:00 PM. Her burial will be private.
