Vera C. Higgins a lifelong resident of Pensacola, FL passed away Saturday the 13th of May 2017 at a local nursing facility.

Born on March 6, 1932, Vera was a loving wife and supportive mother to seven children. She had a ready smile and help for anyone she met.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Berke Higgins, Sr. and son, Robert Thompson, III.

She is survived by her children, Patricia (Anthony) Washington, Berke (Diane) Higgins, Jr., Gladys McNeil, Harold (Mary) Higgins, Eleanor Jemison, Anthony (Cheryl) Thompson and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Special thanks to the staff at Rehab Center at Park Place and Emerald Coast Hospice for the loving care provided to our mother.

Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until funeral service begins at 9:30 a.m., Monday, May 22, 2017 at Trahan Family Funeral Home, Pensacola. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery.
