Paulette Hamel passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 24, 1949 in Pensacola to Alvin and Rosemary Berrian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Rosemary Berrian; paternal grandparents, William Edward and Alice Berrian; maternal grandparents, Talmage and Mary Lillie Carroll; and her soulmate, Andy Whetstone.
Paulette is survived by her three daughters: Tina Simmons, Sonya Alford (Steve), and Stephanie Bullinger (Erik); six grandchildren: Trevor Vaughn, Erica Vaughn, Brandon Alford, Everette Alford, Laine Bullinger, and Lily Bullinger; two great-grandchildren, Braxton and Payton Vaughn; former husband Ronnie Hamel; four siblings: Carol Clements (Greg), Larry Berrian (C.J.), Vicki Wolfe (David), and Gary Berrian (Karen); and her beloved uncle and aunt, James and Carol Carroll.
Paulette had many talents and skills which she employed in her various careers, starting with her years working at Milton Quality Bakery. She became an outstanding cake decorator and used those talents to bring joy to others by decorating cakes for their special occasions. She worked primarily as a bookkeeper and office manager for plumbing and heating and air conditioning companies. Paulette’s adventurous spirit also led to a year-long job driving a semi-truck, in partnership with a friend.
She was a fun-loving person and especially enjoyed fishing, sailing, swimming, pool volleyball and boating. She was an avid gardener, pianist, and enjoyed playing cards and bingo with family and friends.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to her caregivers: Regency Hospice, Sandy Ridge Health and Rehabilitation, her home caregiver Neicy Davis and numerous others.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 24 at Trahan Family Funeral Home of Milton at 10:30. Family will receive friends beginning at 10:00.
