Obituary for Herbert "Brent" Karsten
June 30, 1953 - November 21, 2017
Herbert “Brent” Karsten, 64, of Pensacola, FL went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. He was born June 30, 1953 in Coronado, CA to his loving parents, Herbert Gabriel and Barbara Lee Brent Karsten.
Brent was a graduate of Escambia High School’s Class of 1971. He was a Merchant Marine Captain for over 30 years, an accomplished sailboat racer and a celestial navigator. He was also an aviation enthusiast and animal lover. Brent was a generous, honest, compassionate man with a heart of gold.
Brent now walks alongside the Lord with his parents, Herbert Karsten, Barbara Karsten; his paternal grandparents; and his maternal grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Christian Karsten, Clayton Karsten; grandsons, Andrew Karsten, Matthew Karsten; his beloved dog, Barkley; sisters, Shannon Gallaher, Diana (Ed) Hardy; and dear family and friends. Brent will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Progressive Care Unit at Baptist Hospital for their kindness.
A visitation at Trahan Family Funeral Home will be Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with the memorial service to follow at 2:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the World Wildlife Fund at www.supportworldwildlife.org.
