Sybil Nadine Richardson, 98, of Pensacola, Florida was granted her angel wings on December 1st, 2017. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and friends that she touched in some small way throughout her long and gracious life.
Born December 18th, 1918, to Ollie and Florence Sorrells, Sybil was a compassionate and caring person with a unique sense of humor and a heart of gold. To her family and all that knew her, she was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and best friend. Sybil enjoyed working outdoors, particularly in the garden where she would grow tomatoes and a number of other vegetables and flowers. She was also a lover of her dogs who, over the many years, bore the same names but were all always by her side when crocheting or watching some of her favorite television shows. She loved watching the birds feed from her numerous bird feeders throughout the day although she was not particularly fond of the squirrel’s covertly stealing bird feed who would more often than not meet a fateful demise in the process of their thievery from her kitchen window. Sybil worked in several occupations over the years, but none was as fulfilling to her than her job at the Escambia General Hospital Nursing Home where she worked as a nurse upon arrival to the Pensacola area in 1945.
Sybil was blessed with a loving family to include her son Jerry Richardson, her daughter Jeannie Roark, her daughter-in-law Carol Richardson, and her son-in-law Christopher Roark, three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Viewing Visitation for family and friends will take place at 9:30am-10:30am followed by a funeral service officiated by Reverend Avon Fowler at 10:30am-11:30am on Wednesday, December 6th 2017 at the Trahan Family Funeral Home on 419 Yoakum Court, Pensacola, Florida. A graveside service for Sybil will take place at 12:00 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
