Phillip Louis DeHart, 58 of Milton, FL died on 22 April from injuries received on 18 April during the move of the historic Gulf Hotel to downtown Ft. Walton Beach, FL.
After High school in Pensacola, Phil enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and proudly served his nation aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger CVA-61. After the military, Phil returned to Pensacola and worked for Mediacom in Gulf Breeze. During this time Phil met and married Barbara. Other jobs included managing a landscape business in Baton Rouge for 9 years, working offshore, and in the millwright industry. He was employed by QCFS Management Group, Inc for over 18 years, where he was an installation technician and crew supervisor. Phil was an accomplished gardener. He loved playing golf with his brothers where he was known to be a golf cart stunt driver. He also pursued hunting and fishing whenever he had a chance. Phil was a dedicated husband, father, and Pappi.
Phil was preceded in death by his wife and soulmate of 31 years, Barbara Ann, as well as his parents Carl and Hazel Dehart.
He is survived by his daughter, Shelby Leigh Yarnell and two grandchildren, Ryleigh Cecelia Little and Elijah Matthew Yarnell. He is also survived by an estranged son, Jeremy Hardin and by his four brothers; Dan, Rod (Jodi), Steve, and Mike (Donna).

There will be a private family ceremony at Barrancas National Cemetery to inter Phillip and Barbara’s cremated remains. A celebration of Phil’s life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center for their herculean efforts to save Phillip.
