Brother Bennie N. Belton, Sr.
1940 - 2018

Brother Bennie N. Belton, Sr., 78, of Cantonment was born March 31, 1940 in Utah, Alabama to the late Betty and Roosevelt Belton, Sr. He departed this life on August 4, 2018 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family.

He grew up in Utah where he was baptized at an early age at Pine Grove A.M.E. Church.

Bennie married Brenda Sledge on December 6, 2002 and remained together until his death. He worked for the papermill in Cantonment until he retired after 30 plus years.

He united with Little Bethel and later joined Pearl Valley Baptist Church. Benny moved his membership to Pentecostal Temple under the leadership of Bishop John Young. He was an active member in the Sunday School and a Deacon.

Bennie was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Bennie, Jr. and Bernard Sr.; his brothers and sister.

Bennie leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 15 years, Brenda Sledge G. Belton of Cantonment; daughter, Sharon of Pensacola, FL; two adoptive daughters, Annie and Brenda Galloway from Cantonment, FL; one stepson, Dennis of Pensacola, FL; adoptive sons, Ezekiel Calrissian and Donneiko Smith of Cantonment, FL; one sister, Bertha of New York; daughter-in-law, Chris Belton, numerous grand and great-grands; numerous nephews and nieces.

He is also survived by mother-in-law, Dorothy Simmons; brothers-in-law, Daniel Sledge, Jr. and Marlow Sledge of Milton, Dorcie (Marcie) Sledge, Doyle (Teresa) Sledge, Donquies Sledge of Pensacola, FL and Lewis Edwards of Cantonment, FL; sisters-in-law, Sandra (Ray) Lewis, Tracie Belton and Tina Sledge of Cantonment, FL and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until funeral service begins at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Greater First Baptist Church, 591 Booker Street, Cantonment, FL.
